Join us for a night of tasteful food and entertainment while learning more information about Missouri's first Gospel Music Hall of Fame.

On this special night, we honor our renowned gospel legends of Missouri and stress the importance of gospel music and mental health as we delight the crowd with musical performances from national and local performers. Found by four church girls from Missouri who have united to preserve gospel music history and its future. The founders consist of the Film Producer and Owner of The Butler Group, Monica R. Butler, and the Committeewoman of 18th Ward and The Butler Group Director of Community Outreach Yolonda ‘Yogi’ Yancie.


The Butler Group and Gospel Music Hall of Fame, Inc. want your support in commemorating gospel music, honoring gospel legends, and celebrating the revival of the historic Holy Corners district by presenting The Gospel Music Hall of Fame - Missouri Gala "Friendraiser" at The Chase Park Plaza on Saturday, August 12, 2023. Doors open at 5:00 pm in the Khorassan Ballroom, then the program will start at 5:30 pm.


These ladies partnered with the respected developer, Steve Smith of The Lawrence Group, to spearhead the 24- million-dollar project to turn the historic Second Baptist Church property at 500 N. Kingshighway Blvd into Missouri's first Gospel Music Hall of Fame art museum and research center. The Gospel Music Hall of Fame's mission is to celebrate, educate, capture, and showcase gospel music's historical impact on American society. The future Hall of Fame will be an international cultural arts destination that educates and inspires visitors of all ethnicities and religions as they experience the rich history of gospel music through interactive attractions.

Watch the highlights from the Gospel Music Hall of Fame's Gospel Day at Busch Stadium from August 27, 2023, as we prepare for this year's Gospel Day Fest at Busch Stadium Saturday, Sept. 2nd. This year's Gospel Day will honor the women of gospel and sports with special guest Jackie Joyner-Kersee throwing out the Honorary Pitch.


Tickets are on sale for $30 to have discounted seats located in Left Field Loge at Busch Stadium. All ticket proceeds are for the event and towards development of the future Gospel Music Hall of Fame Museum and Cultural Arts Center. Gospel Fest at Missouri History Museum

One-Day Gospel Fest
This program is presented in collaboration with the Gospel Music Hall of Fame Missouri.


St. Louis Sound

Don’t miss this one-day festival dedicated to gospel music! We’ll explore the genre through live performances, the 
St. Louis Sound exhibit, and a screening and discussion of the 1982 documentary Say Amen, Somebody, which shares the intricate history of gospel music in the United States. The film spotlights the story of legendary gospel artist Willie Mae Ford Smith, and much of it was shot in St. Louis. Before the screening, enjoy a conversation with three local gospel legends who are featured in the film: Zella Jackson Price, Dr. Marabeth Gentry, and Ethel Foster. Monica Butler, founder of the Gospel Music Hall of Fame–Missouri, will emcee this event. Café St. Louis by Pure will have a chili bar and soft drinks available for purchase from 12 to 3:30 pm.

Gospel Day at Busch Stadium

Recap with us on this historic day of bringing Gospel music to Busch Stadium in St. Louis, MO, on August 27th for the game home game of the STL Cardinals against 2021 World Series Champions ATL Braves.


Watch as you see the Gospel Music Hall of Fame - Missouri founders join down on the baseball field to watch Monica R Butler throws out the Honorary Pitch to STL Cardinals Player Brendan Donovan. There was a praiseworthy gospel performance at the Pavilion Patio with national musical artist Erica Reed and local performances from The St. Louis Gospel Choraleers and Slim & Lucky praise team.

Gospel Music Hall of Fame Pre-Show at The Muny's Purina Plaza

The Gospel Music Hall of Fame had a free pre-show concert performance every night at The Muny's Purina Plaza before the showing of The Color Purple from August 3rd - 9th. Each show night consist of local Missouri musician, artists, and dancers showcasing their best work for those awaiting to see The Color Purple.

Faith at the City Foundry

Check out the highlights from our first annual fundraiser event for the soon-to-be Gospel Music Hall of Fame Arts Museum and Research Center.


This event was in St. Louis, Missouri, at the City Foundry St. Louis. The event had the support of local vendors, sponsorship from Affinia Healthcare to provide COVID-19 vaccines and booster shots, also musical performances from various artists, including featured gospel artists Erica Reed and Keith 'Wonderboy' Johnson.


This annual event goal is to raise awareness and bring excitement around the future Gospel Music Hall of Fame museum. We hope you enjoy this video, and we look forward to seeing you at the gospel concert event!
